Considering how good the last Rayman game was I expected big things, but this just kept surprising me with its clever gameplay. It's got a really infectious sense of fun and I couldn't believe how different each level was. That's the sign of a great game right there. Well, as soon as I finished the game I just dived back in to beat my times and hunt down the secrets I'd missed. Who doesn't want to kick flaming soccer balls around? And there are even online challenges where you can put your Raymanly skills to the test trying to get on the daily leaderboards. But after playing it for five minutes I realised it's in there because it's so much fun. I thought that was a really odd mode to add. We should also mention some of the other modes like the soccer shootout mini game. Okay, thanks Darren, you did save my bacon! Yep, I think playing this in co-op will be perfect for younger spawnlings, having someone a bit more experienced with this sort of platforming can be a big help in the trickier sections. So as long as one of the other players is alive they can keep bringing you back to life. In co-op you don't have to restart when you die, you're just turned into a balloon. As well as all the new levels, they've also included a bunch of older levels from their last game Rayman Origins, with extra secrets scattered about to find.Ĭollecting everything in the game is definitely a big challenge, but I think the co-op is a really good way to balance that difficulty. Yeah, they've sure crammed a lot into this game. Collecting all the lums and rescuing every Teensie will test even the most skilled gamers. And speaking of cakes, I was impressed at how many secrets they baked into every level. I guess you can have your cake and eat it too?Īffirmative. Then the next I'd be turned into a chicken while Murphy tunneled through giant cakes for me. One minute I'd be fighting a monstrous luchadore.

Plus he can do some really awesome things like deflecting fireballs away from you at just the right moment.įor me it was the crazy variety that I enjoyed most. Yeah but I found that once I got the hang of Murphy I really liked using him. At first it's a little tricky to get used to moving the background around while you're jumping. Now the regular players can control Murphy with a button press while they're jumping around. That's right, but since then the game has been rejigged to work on other consoles too. An extra player was able to use swiping gestures on the gamepad to make the flying character Murphy do things like cut ropes to drop platforms down. Originally, when this game was being made specifically for Wii U, it featured a multiplayer touch-screen mode. I love the little touches like the way the baddies are roughing up the Teensies before you rescue them. We're used to a lot of flashy 3D graphics today but all of Rayman's locations have a hand-drawn look that adds so much personality. There's a bit of a James Bond vibe too with the spy themes and henchmen in wetsuits. Like these stealth levels where you have to sneak around staying out of sight of the cameras.

So I'm glad that there's plenty of thoughtful platforming here too. But then the song levels are all set to a really fast pace, a bit like those smartphone endless running games. Yeah those levels are so good I almost wish the whole game was music themed. Being a big music lover my favourites are the levels laid out to the beat of a pop songs. I’m contemplating whether or not to pull the trigger and get it right now at 20 from Best Buy. I can play that black Betty level over and over lol. Legends is a great game, hope you enjoy it. But the beauty of this game is that there are so many locations and scenarios. Just started playing Rayman Legends, does anyone know if back to origins is missing any levels. Take a look.Įach level gives you the very simple task of getting Rayman and his friends safely to the exit. There's just so much creativity and polish that's been injected into every inch of this gorgeous platformer. This sums up how I think they've done with the sequel.

Now almost a full year later, it's finally out, not just for Wii U, but almost every gaming platform! So Baj, has it been worth the wait? It was originally going to be a launch title for the Wii U, but then it was delayed, and delayed again. The fish-eye lens with a stronger effect.Rayman Legends has been a long time coming.
